The Solomon Islands Context

In the Solomon Islands context, the Athletes’ Commission represents the voice and rights of athletes, is elected by member sports federations, has administrative space within NOCSI, and provides support and activities through grants.As part of a global Olympic Movement network, it has access to grant opportunities through the IOC, ANOC and ONOC athletes’ commissions.

The Athletes’ Commission will be working more strategically in the new Quadrennial 2021 - 2024 to access more grants and funding opportunities in order to best serve athletes in the Solomon Islands, particularly in preparations as host of the 2023 Pacific Games - which is treated as the Continental games of the Oceania region toward the Olympic Games.
